Your Initial Consultation

During the initial no-charge consultation, we start by evaluating the constructability of the project. We are also listening and gathering information about the scope of work, your felt needs, investment threshold and any special events related to the timing of your project (grand opening, birth, move-in date, etc.). We will review any magazine or internet photos that you may have as well and discuss how different materials and finishes can impact your budget. This initial meeting also serves as an interviewing process for both of us. In most instances, we will give you an estimated cost range during this meeting. This is not an exact figure, rather a range, dependent on your selections and finishes as well as clarification of the final scope of your project. If you have already hired a design professional, they will typically provide all of the documentation needed to quote your project. If not, we will discuss what design work is needed to achieve accurate pricing and clear construction documents. The required design work may be as simple as a conceptual floor plan & specifications but large projects may require surveying, architectural services or engineering. We will also discuss whether you feel comfortable making all of your selections or if you prefer the assistance of an interior designer. At either our first meeting, or by a follow up appointment, we will propose a fee to deliver all of the required design work for your project. 

Design Process

During the design process, we work with you to make all of your materials selections or set realistic allowances and we provide input about how these selections and allowances affect the budget. We also meet with you to make revisions to the plans as necessary. Once we have worked together to achieve a finalized design, we will provide a detailed proposal for the completion of your project. After we have agreed on the scope of work, specifications and price, your design work and proposal will be passed to one of our project managers for proper permitting and scheduling. Your project manager is charged with executing your project all the way to the final client walk-thru.
